Triple Nickle trip .....

Postby M!ke » 27 Feb 2010, 18:48

Hey everyone! Planning a trip to The Triple Nickle (Rt. 555) this summer. I would like to make a weekend trip out of it. Meaning, we ride up to Zanesville Friday (around 136 miles) and stay the night in Zanesville. Ride the Triple Nickle on Saturday. Then head back home either Saturday evening or Sunday Morning. I have no hotel or camping locations as of yet. I am thinking in the Zanesville area.
This is all in the planning stages still so any suggestions or ideas are welcome! :)

Here is a Google map route I have planned with the ride starting at the Speedway on Route 22 & Union Cemetery Rd.

Sounds tempting if the weather is right.

You might consider returning on Route 32 through southern Ohio -- used to drive 32 all the time when I worked out in Wellston/Jackson.

Thinking right now between the Indy Rally and the Roll in the Hey Rally. In July maybe except for the weekend of July 24th. I will be at my nephews wedding.

Ok everyone, How about July 9th, 10th, and maybe 11th (friday afternoon, Saturday, & Sunday)?
Someone can help get a group rate on a hotel in Zanesville?
Leave Friday afternoon up route 22 to Zanesville (136 miles?). Ride the 555 Saturday morning enjoying the sights. Either head back up the 555 and head home on 22, OR take Route 7 then 52 all the way back to Cincy (240 miles, that is starting at the end of the 555!!!).

Jason and I are pretty much free that weekend too. I would like to camp - I'll research some camp grounds in that area in case anyone else would want to join us.

It appears that two of the closest and most versitle campgrounds to Zanesville include:
Wolfies Campground
http://www.wolfiescampground.com/home.php
and
National Road Campground
http://www.gocampingamerica.com/parkInf ... mpID=16507

Anyone interested in camping - have an opinion on either place or an alternative? The local state parks are non-electric sites so we can't use them.

Thanks Deb for checking on the prices at the hotels for me! :)
Looks like we have a choice here:
-A stay at the Econo Lodge Hotel for $55 - $60 a night.
or
-At Wolfies Campground in, hopefully several cabins, for $40 - $45 per cabin a night. Cheaper if you tent it. I would rather get a cabin.
Thanks Sara for the camping locations. :)

So, I'm setting the date for the July 9th (Friday) 10th & maybe 11th.
We should all vote on a hotel or camping soon so we can reserve.
