Kim Thompson Benefit Jam - Saturday Nov 7, 2009

New postby kschulz on 27 Sep 2009, 10:50

Over the summer a member of our family, Kim Thompson, was found to have lymphoma disease, and since then Kim has been undergoing intensive medical treatment. Kim is a wife and mother of 3 pre-teen kids, and as you can imagine the past few months have been extremely difficult for the Thompson family both financially and emotionally.

A "Benefit Jam" event has been planned for Saturday, November 7, to raise funds to help out the Thompson family. I've contacted my musician friends and have 3 local bands signed to play that night. Full details can be found here:

http://kimthompsonbenefit.wordpress.com/ ("Benefit Jam" link in left column)

There's also a PDF flyer for the event on the site.

Everyone is invited to come out for an evening of food, drink, raffles, and live music - all for a great cause.

Just wanted to push this up to the top for anyone interested. I think I actually have this one open myself.

Anyone else want to go with us?

As of last month, the band I was playing in for the last 4 years disbanded. Not my choice, but our singer decided to hang it up.

I've jammed with Kerb Crawlers before, and recorded the demo CDs for all three bands. If you like classic 60's - 70's rock you shouldn't be disappointed.

Local Alienz will be up first: http://www.myspace.com/localalienz (Song list on web site)
Time Bomb will follow: http://www.myspace.com/timebombjam (Excellent Neil Young covers)
Kerb Crawlers: no web site, but expect some Rolling Stones, Beatles, Cream, Who, CCR, Grand Funk Railroad, Bowie, (and many other) tunes.

Should be a good time - directions are on the Kim Thompson Benefit site shown in the original post above.
Many thanks to all those who can make it.

Let's Rock

New postby Bonegirl on 06 Nov 2009, 18:35

Looks like the first band is up at 5:30! Sweet Deal!

Debbie, Sarah and M!ke are meeting at our house by 4Pm so we can get there for dinner. If you want to join us, let me know. It is going to be a fun night for sure.

We will be scootering, if that matters! :)

I would love to join you - the weather looks great for riding up there - but I'll be going up early to help the bands set up.

See you there!

Sincere thanks to Mike, Debbie, Sarah, Ben and Angie for coming and helping support Kim in her fight. Sorry you missed Kerb Crawlers - they had the dance floor packed and really got the party going. Unfortunately no scooter gang names were drawn for the remaining raffle items, so I didn't get to fill up the back of my SUV with loot to bring back. Anyways, a great success for a great cause. Thanks again...and I'd love to see pics!

We had a good time, wish we could have stayed to see the other bands.

Kudos.
