Ohio's MSF class schedule for 2012

Unread postby lagerhead » 04 Jan 2012, 21:11

Registration for the 2012 motorcycle classes will begin on-line onlystarting February 6, 2012, at 12:01 AM and at that time you will be able to view the course schedules and register for classes. We encourage you to keep checking the schedule for openings throughout the season as we update the site daily. You may also attempt to be a walk-in at a class that is scheduled and currently full.

Currently any Motorcycle Ohio class for minors or adults is less than $50, and as long as you take and pass the Basic Rider Class you may get your M Endorsement added on your license without any further exam. Our completion cards are good for 60 days from the completion of the class. The class is mandatory for minors and a legal guardian must sign off on your class waiver prior to riding a motorcycle on the range. You may take the class in any Ohio county that offers courses. There is no wait-list and BRC / BRC-RR students must have a valid permit (TIPIC) when you register and show up for class.

Students view and enroll on-line at this following link beginning 02/06/12 @ 12:01 am:
https://www.dps.state.oh.us/MOScheduling/

Our walk-in policy is here at this link:
https://www.dps.state.oh.us/MOScheduling/MO_Walkin.aspx

If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Motorcycle Ohio at mogen@dps.state.oh.us

Thanks!

I highly recommend anyone who hasn't taken this course to do it, even if you already have your MC license. I had mine already and took it with my wife last June and learned a lot. We took it on our scoots with no problems, anything from 100cc-400cc is okay. No pre permission letters are needed anymore either.

Quote from another forum.

For riders only interested in operating a 2-WHEELED scooter but wishing to earn their endorsement or take a rider education class in Ohio, you may do so as long as notifying the instructor of your class. The following will be verified by the instructor before any riding is done:

1. Scooter is between 100 and 500 cc
2 Scooter is properly licensed
3. Show proof of Insurance on scooter
4. Scooter will be checked for road worthiness

You do not need to bring your scooter the classroom portion of the BRC, only for the range portion of the class. The State of Ohio will not accept any liability for damage you might sustain to your personal motorcycle due to any negligence on your part.

Please Motorcycle Ohio if you have any questions at mogen@dps.state.oh.us

There are a couple of Advanced Rider sections available this year at Butler Tech, two in May, June, August and September.

There were two in Hamilton County (for the first time in recent memory) but both are full.

Excellent skills brush-up.

I might sign up for one of these this year. I'm surprised to see several openings left at the Butler Tech location. I took the ERC a few years ago and had a lot of fun.
