Hi everyone,
Lagerhead sent me the url for this site, nice to see so many scooterists in the Cincinnati area. I'm new to scootering, so new in fact that I bought a bike without riding it based on reviews and recommendations. I'm the proud owner of a tangerine 2009 Buddy 125 which I purchased from our very own Metro Scooters. Seth and Parker are great, very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.
I live in Turpin Hills with my boyfriend (Jim) of 12 years, my three shih tzu (Suki 14, Bubbles 11, Elmo 10) and the love of my life, my retired greyhound Mingo, who turned two in June. I'm actively involved in greyhound rescue; they are, without a doubt, the best dogs in the world. I recently left a job at Western & Southern in annuity operations which I absolutely hated - I don't plan on going back to work unless I find something I enjoy doing.
We're road cyclists, Jim has a Cannondale and Pinarello; I have a Seven and Ridley. We helped form a racing team called 7 Hills Racing in 2005, and although I don't race, I do participate as a cheerleader at the races and volunteer at some of the charity rides. I bought the scooter to fill the gap between the car and the road bike - those times when you want to run to the gym, grocery, anywhere that you don't feel like pulling on lycra and sweating. It turns out that there is a fairly large community of scooterists and that you put together rides, social events, etc? That's great!
Look forward to meeting and riding with you when the weather warms up. I need to (1) get my temps (2) learn to ride the scooter (yes, I'm taking the two day class that should help) and (3) get my permanent license. I also need to get a couple of jackets, a helmet, and maybe a pair of boots.
I'm also a craft beer connoisseur, love IPAs, and I've discovered in a short period of time that scooterists seem to be beer drinkers as well!
Have a great day and stay warm.
Steph
