Unread postby strkngfang » 25 Aug 2011, 10:00

Honda of Fairfield just announced yesterday they are sponsoring their first annual charity ride to fight muscular dystrophy. There will be a bike show, face painting, silent auctions, food, games, live entertainment and a ride. It runs from 10am-4pm, I believe the ride leaves at 3pm. More info on their facebook page. Cost- 25.00 for everything, 10.00 for just the ride. I'll definitely be there, they take great care of me :)

I hope we can get some riders out for this, it is for a great cause. I spoke to Tom Bell, the coordinator, along with Honda of Fairfield and he started this for his 6 yr old son who has terminal MD. I know the weather isn't going to be the best but I'm praying for a large turnout for them.
I did get some details on the ride itself. Tom will lead us away at 3pm from Honda of Fairfield, we will travel through Colerain, Ross, Hamilton, Fairfield & end at Win, Place or Show on RT 4 in Fairfield. He estimates only about a 40mi ride.
Things kick off at 10am with just about everything from food, entertainment, bike show, burn out competitions, face painting etc. I know he spent a pretty penny on organizing this in honor of his son and depending on the turn out he would like to make it an annual event. Hope to see some of you!!!!!!

Thanks for posting, Dan. I had signed up on FB in August. Haven't been feeling well the last couple days so even if I don't make the ride, I'll try to get there some time to donate the $25

No can do

I am still really sick and not willing to risk my health or others.

I have emailed Tom Bell, whose family is being sponsored by this benefit, to ask where I can send a donation.

Hate doing this but you gotta' do what you gotta' do.

You made the right decision because it was a very cold windy ride. There were only 7 of us but besides being cold, we had a good time. Tom lead the ride and had good spirits and is determined to make next year bigger and better, as well as earlier in the year in September. I was glad my friend George & I were still able to help the cause. He rode up from Highland Heights Ky to ride with me :)

I received a really nice email from Tom when I asked where I could send a donation. Check's in the mail and I, too, am hoping for much better weather next year. We are gone so much of September but we'll see what happens next year.

Thanks to you and George for making a scooter showing for us. I am sure it meant a lot to Tom.

Sorry Dan I wasn’t able to make this as well. I always like to try and make these benefit rides but I ended up doing another cause volunteering at the Reggae Run that I have done the last few+ years. Unfortunately it was the same day. Was glad to see them have an even better turn out this year with 4,000+ runners considering the weather :D

I hope to make this next year too if it’s in September which yes should be a better month/chance weatherwise too. Also glad to see you and your friend George make it as well :)

Ang, I’ll have to maybe get that info from you so that I can at least still send a donation too!
