Glad to be on this forum finally! Long time reader first time poster.
Well, former Shovelhead rider that stopped rolling the slabs a few years back.
Fast forward >>>>> this really weird looking red couch went whizzing past me as I was sitting chowing one early morning back spring of 2007 in the Highlands here in Louisville,KY.
I jumped in my car zoomed out of the parking lot and made chase to catch up with this contraption already parked outside of the eatery down the street, and the operator inside the building. At that time my mind was like...what is this thing? It blew my mind! As I was standing there checking out what looked like 8' in length, the owner wandered out of the brick and motar all of 5' with her helmet in hand. Huh?
Slow forward>> (noise in my head) Come on Kevin!! It's a Helix! You know the sofa on wheels everyone has these dayz!
Fast forward>>>>> I cage home tell my wife "we're getting a scooter!" She says, "You'll never see me standing on one pushing my left foot off the street...Are you crazy!!??!!
Fast forward>>>>> My wife's first scoot was an 2007 Aprilia Scarabeo 500ie. She's 5' 3"! Think here one moment please...
Slow forward>>> I come home with a New (found in a box in Atlanta) 2004 Aprilia Atlantic 200 for Diane (wife). Yep, I'm on the AS500ie that same day!
What incredible rides, rallies, friends and adventures totaling up to nearly 16,000 miles the first year on my AS500ie.
Fast forward>>>>> physics lesson day 8.13.08
3 Scoots on curve....gravel in road...me on the outside #2 position...Sideways, straightened back up over a ditch into a field, crashing into a shiny cable, electric barbed wire and 2 post, hitting one head on.
Slow forward>>> phone is held to my ear telling Diane.. "I'm done!" "I'm sorry and I love you!"
