How about a ride Saturday August 27th

Unread postby burgman2170 » 19 Aug 2011, 21:44

I was talking (email) to Ron Crouch this week about setting up a ride for 8/27 and see if anyone is interested. Not sure on the destination at this time maybe out to Indiana, over to Kentucky maybe a Bourbon Trail ride that might be interesting, Rabbit Hash again, maybe over to Frindship Indiana up north to Indian Lake area. Don't know. Any ideas?

The Bugs and Boobies Ride this week might be a little too much for the riders who live out west and north of KY. Even for me it is a haul and it is later in the day. Not sure if anyone is interested in this ride but it is for a good cause, breast cancer and according to the chair person everyone is invited to attend.

Next week is another story. I think a good ride is up for grabs here. Just getting a destination is the question.

Next weekend is the big Indy Rally that most everyone goes to (Friday-Monday). I will be riding in the "Hero's Ride" that leaves Fairfield at 1pm on the 27th. It is a lot of fun with over 500 bikes, a 3 hr ride with a stop at Hueston Woods Park in Oxford to eat and then back to Fairfield. I think it was around 80 mi?? If interested www.herosride.com

I can't swing three days off work. I think my nephew is going up there to that Rally on Friday as well.

Strkngfang wrote there are actually 3 rides this weekend. The Hero's Ride, which I already signed up for on Saturday, the CCA autism ride, that I also went on last year and was loads of fun and the Brian Dulle ride. I am bummed that all of these fell on the same day. Brian Dulle's mother is a former co worker of mine from when I worked for Butler County and a good friend so I would have loved to gone on that one.

The Dulle ride starts at 11:30 at the Power Keg Harley Davidson in Mason Ohio next to Kings Island. Cost is $20 bucks I do believe.

The Hero's ride starts in Fairfield Ohio. Not sure on the cost of the ride or when it starts.

The Autism Ride is listed below:

Event Dates: August 27, 2011 - August 27, 2011
Location: Milford, Ohio

Third Annual CCA Charity Ride, All proceeds to benefit the Cincinnati Center for Autism
Saturday August 27th, 2011
Poker Run with 5 stops
Starts and Ends at Quaker Steak & Lube in Milford
Registration at 9 am, Coffee & Donuts
Entertainment at 3:30 by PRIZONER
Prizes for 1st,2nd & 3rd Place Poker Hand Winners
For more information contact: David Kahle @513-200-0701
Amanda Tipkemper-Sparks @ CCA 513-874-6789

This might be the ride of choice for me as it starts early and is on the east side of town. Not sure yet still need to see who wants to ride.

Les, I'm sure you'll enjoy that one, a lot of us went on that ride last year. It was to different locations near Dayton but it was a nice group and well organized. All 3 rides are for great causes so you can't lose. The weather looks great as well. Have fun in which ever ride you choose. The Hero's Ride is $25.00 and departs at 1pm from Village Green in Fairfield and looking forward to it!!!

Hero's Ride

Unread postby Bonegirl » 23 Aug 2011, 21:56

I have to say, if I were in town, I would absolutely be at the Hero's Ride.

I didn't want to miss the Goodtimer's Ride last week because that is an excellent ride as well.

Too bad you couldn't make it.

The Goodtimers Freedom ride was a great turnout with close to 400 bikes. I/we had a great time, very nice ride with Police escort. Great afterparty as well with lots of prizes and good music with Sonny Moorman and 2 classic rock bands. Of course a couple of people I was with won; 1 prize being a nice big Bengals basket which we won't talk about now, I was a loser and didn't win the huge liguor barrel,  Will have to maybe post this one next year. It left out of the VFW hall off Galbraith road and was only $15.

I would be at the Hero's ride as well, that definitely is a good one too!!!

I never saw anything about the Goodtimers Freedom Ride. Must have overlooked that one. Sounds like a deal. I may go on the Hero Ride or the Dulle Ride. Still up in the air at this time. Waiting for Ron to see which one he wants to go on. The Bugs and Boobies ride was very good. It was a poker ride but they also had some nice gift baskets but I a loser as well.

The only thing I didn't like is going off of Kelloge to 275 and then getting way over to the left to merge onto 27 Alexendria Pike. That was an experience for sure getting up to speed then getting over with traffic going 75 to 80 MPH. Going over was a pain but coming back was ok.

My nephew is going to Indy for the motorcycle race this weekend but might come down for the ride on Saturday then go back up. So maybe the Hero's ride might be the one we may entertain on Saturday.

My ride has been established. Ron and I are going on the Dulle Ride at the Powder Keg in Mason on Saturday. The ride leaves at 11:30 from the Powder Keg. Cost is 20 bucks if anyone is interested. Ride is for a good cause as the Dulle's daughter has a rare form of brain cancer.

Have fun Les and let us know how it goes and the turnout. Maybe next year if it becomes an annual ride I can go on it.

I have made a last minute change of plans for the ride Saturday. I received a few phone calls this morning and emails telling me that a few people have decided to not take the ride today for one reason or another. Some have said they are going to the Autism ride in Milford. Since Milford is close to my home I have decided to take that ride instead.

The ride leaves from the Milford Quaker State Steak and Lube at 11:00
