Fuel Adjustment ...

Unread postby M!ke » 23 Apr 2010, 20:52

I was still getting slightly poor gas mileage after replacing my air filter a few weeks back (didn't change).
After work, I stopped by Moto Verde to see how Tim was doing. I happen to mention to him about the slightly poor gas mileage I was getting and he printed off steps for a fuel adjustment for all environments for me.
I went home & tried that. Took me 3 tries but now it seems to run smoother than before.
Thanks Tim! 8)

PS- He is doing fine.

Mike,

I'm glad that worked out! Looks like you didn't need the funky screwdriver too which is a bonus!

Hopefully you'll begin to notice better fuel mileage as well. It might be a good idea to change your oil too if you haven't recently. With the incorrect fuel/air ratio your engine can run hotter which can reduce the lifespan of the oil.

Good luck!!!

Thanks, I took out the seat/storage compartment and the mixture screw was easy to get to.

The oil was changed not long ago.

I'm hoping the gas mileage will go back to the way it was.

Just curious, Mike, what was your original mpg and what did it change to?? I'm getting my first initial maintainance done and I was wondering if mine will improve or worsen? Hopefully get better or stay the same, I'm happy with 95-100mpg. When I had my Vino 125, the mileage actually worsened after the 600mi "break in" service, but not by too much. The general consensus would be that it would be a lot better??

Dan, my original was 65 to 70 mpg. Mine has dropped about 5- to 10 mpg. I'm hoping with the fuel mixture adjustment it will help. That will be determined.
One thing though it runs smoother when I rev the throttle.
