Australian National Scooter Rally.

Unread postby Rolly56 » 08 May 2010, 18:06

:) G'day All.This Rally has come and gone, yes I did go,and this is a brief account of my trip, the Rally, and the new bits that I fitted to the Wing before I left.968 kilometers in 13 hours,on some of the finest scooter roads to be had.The Barkbusters kept the cold away, and the Laminar lip provided the relief from helmet buffeting and wind noise that had been driving me nuts. The Best piece of road this trip is called The Buckets Way,and is from Gloucester to Walcha heading north. This section of road has so many varying landscapes to ride.Single lane wooden bridges, narrow mountain road up and down with tree canopies above making it dark and scary for a lone scooter rider. The road starts to open up with rolling foothills, sweeping bends and more open country with some high speed corners and a few stretches for the warp speed junkies. The Rally was well organised. There was a ride day on the saturday, which was quite impressive as about 70 scooters did 2 loops north and south of Stanthorpe with morning tea at a Berry farm and Orchard.A BBQ lunch was enjoyable,as was the night out organised for everyone over the road at the Motel restuarant.Good tucker and great company.Lots of prizes given out, sadly,no Maxi scoots were winners.Nowra Hill to Stanthorpe,968 kilometers,Stanthorpe to Surfers Paradise,240 kilometers,Surfers Paradise home to Nowra Hill,1180 kilometers.Including the ride around Stanthorpe,2550 kilometers in total.Awesome ride on an awesome scoot.Cheers and Beers,Rolly. :D :D :D

Wow, Rolly, Australians take their rallies seriously! 1,584 miles is impressive. Sounds like you had an excellent experience. Any photos ?
