2011 Moto GP & Gasoline Rally, August 26th-28th

Postby apsman » 11 Nov 2010, 12:29

As we all should know by now, the Gasoline Rally in 2011 is going to be the same weekend as the Moto GP! This is a great opportunity to see some great racing and have some fun! I have already booked my hotel room for the trip (I know some are probably staying at the hostel if rooms are still there) but one thing I would like to organize is tickets to the Moto GP on Sunday! I am staying Sunday night and coming home on Monday and I believe a few others are as well. Tickets for the racing event range from $70 to $130. If we want tickets near each other we should start trying to figure out how many tickets we need. So I would like to use this as a sign up sheet! If some how we are able to get 20 people we will qualify for group rates which I will look into!

I will start:

Room reserved

Postby Bonegirl » 12 Nov 2010, 17:16

Me and Ben already have our room reserved for Friday, August 26th - Sunday, August 28th (we are leaving Monday).

It is going to rock. Pre-Registration isn't up yet but I assure you we will be in line.

For those interested in staying at the hostel again this year, we have the 2 main bunkrooms reserved just for us...as long as we can guarantee 10 people. JD made the arrangement with John, the owner. With us having both the bunkrooms in the main house, it should feel a lot more like we have the place to ourselves. The 10 people could be either 6 men/4 women or 6 women/4 men. If we get more than 10, we'll have to see what other availability there is.

We have until January 15 at this point to commit to the 10. I'm sure there's a little grace period in there. John's a pretty easy going guy. And if for some reason we need to back out, we have until mid-July. I'm sure price will be about the same as last year ($25/night), give or take a couple bucks.

JD just talked to John about Fri/Sat nights but there's some conversation about people staying Sun night too. The race on Sunday gets over in the late afternoon and it would be nice not to have to ride back to Cinci after a long day.

So let me know if you're "IN" at the hostel and if you plan to stay 2 or 3 nights. Basically we need 8 more.

Merry Christmas!!

Count me in . . Thanks to JD for taking care of it. I plan on going to MotoGP and staying over Sunday.

We had a great time this year w/o a real rally, so next year should be a blast :)

sounds good, I'm in. Like the part of having the place more-or-less to ourselves again too. I plan on going to the race as well, looking forward to it. I would like to stay over Sun nite too instead of having to ride home afterwards.

Steve, with the race, I know you had said something about it being better and you can just get the tix there
(general admission). If this is what we want to do, that's fine w/me. I know Alex has offered to get reserved seats.

Thanks to JD for checking on this and to you for your help as well! PARTY ON 8)

Count me in. Sunday night sounds like a good idea too, if we're going to the MotoGP, so... 3 nights.

Thanks to JD and Steve!

Reservation Lottery

Postby Bonegirl » 05 Jan 2011, 23:29

I just checked room availability at the Red Roof Inn online and the rates have lowered since we made Reservations in October. So I cancelled the first ones and re-made them. Getting better all the time. :D

We are going up Friday and coming home Monday.

I made my reservations Wednesday at Red Roof. Rooms for me are $74 Friday / Saturday and $54 Sunday. Is that right? Just wondering.

I applied for a Redicard last year (free and you get reward points...like a Speedy Card). Don't think that had anything to do with the rates, though. But may be worth looking into. Did you book online or at the Hotel itself? They charge a lot more if you reserve at the Hotel than online. We got a $55.99/night rate without tax for a room with one giant bed; two smaller beds was cheaper. No AAA used, either. We asked for an Upper Level room as well so we didn't have people walking on our heads and could party up there. Our first reservations we made in the Fall were more so when I checked the other day and saw them cheaper, I cancelled and re-booked!

Registration now Open

Postby Bonegirl » 04 Feb 2011, 00:49

Registration is now open:

http://www.gasolinerally.com/

It is $65 for Rally and MotoGP (General Admission)
$105 for Rally and MotoGP (Paddock Seating)
I chose the General Admission and Will call for our tickets. That way we have a 12-hour window to cancel if need be down the road. EXCEPT when it's time to pay you can only use PayPal which says no orders may be cancelled.

So I have not registered yet until I verify this is the case with Ben Roe. If it is, you might as well have the tickets shipped directly to your house.

I'll let you know what I find out.

I'm gonna' wait

Postby Bonegirl » 04 Feb 2011, 14:33

I got a response from Ben Roe, Gasoline Rally contact:

"Honestly, I don't really know. I don't have it working right yet, so I might have to get back to you on it. I'm not certain how refunds work..."
-Ben

So I think I'll wait awhile. I tried to order the tickets thru PayPal but it will not process unless you go back in and change the mailing preference to "Mail" and not "Will Call, which means you can't cancel if an emergency comes up.

Very cool that they've been able to create some ticket options that include both rally and MotoGP. Am I reading it correctly that if you purchase a rally/GP combo, the GP admission is only for Sunday? If so, I think I might pre-reg for just the rally fee ($25) and buy a 3-day GP pass at the speedway ($60). It's only $20 more than the cheapest rally/GP option but gives some flexibility to head out to the track on Fri or Sat if we want to. I'll have to think about the reality of how much time we'll have to also spend at the track those days. Good times ahead!!!
